Take Me Away

Purim in Israel, Friends of Zion museum. One of the workers dressed as a British soldier in honor of Orde Wingate, a Zionist captain in the British Mandate Army. This worker said he thought a ukulele was more appropriate for the day than a gun.

I heard this song for the first time in 2004.  Initially, while I was experiencing the headiness and excitement of hearing Him talk to me, it was kind of a honeymoon song for me.  But then 2005 came, and my world and my life were ripped from me by the roots.  (Or I was ripped from it?  IDK.  Either way, it HURT!!!)  This song became my reminder of who I’d learned God was, what I’d promised Him, and what He’d promised me.  It helped me hang on through an agonizingly painful period in my life.

I’m SO grateful for Christian music writers!  Their music and lyrics help me to express the deep things of my heart that I don’t know how to communicate.  Not only that, when someone writes a song that so well says the things you feel, you realize someone else has been there.  You’re not alone.  Community is SO important!

Take Me Away – Sarah Kelly

No more weary teary eyes
Just sunny skies
Never have I felt so alone
My how I’ve grown

Maybe this is the way it’s supposed to be
As I’m walking down this street
Maybe if it’s just You and me
We’ll never even miss a beat
Maybe

Take me away
Take me away
All that I love
Is You
Is You

Captured by Your love
I’m such a fool
A fool for You
The day you laid your hand upon my heart
Tore my world apart

There’s been so many times that I have prayed
To hear You speak my name
And though I’ve never seen You face to face
I search for You everyday

Take me away
Take me away
All that I love
Is You
Is You

Come what will and come what may
I know Your love will remain
Through the joy and through the pain I surrender
And it makes me want to fly

Take me away
Take me away
All that I love
Is You
Is You
